Lauren - Doll Coming 2013

Lauren attended a two-year community college, and then transferred to a four-year private college for her last two years of school. Lauren wants to be an elementary school teacher. She is 5 feet 8 inches tall, with 4.0 GPA, and has an over achieving drive in all that she accomplishes.

Lauren was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend her two-year community college, which allowed her to attend classes without paying tuition. Lauren also received an academic scholarship for $11,000 per year from the four year private college. While at her community college Lauren joined an honor society called Phi Theta Kappa. She received an additional $1,000 per year scholarship to her private college for being a part of this organization. Lauren took out loans while her parents also helped pay for college.

Tuition at the private college is around $28,600 per year. Lauren lived at home while attending her community and private college. This helped her save money by not having to pay for room and board. Lauren worked part-time while attending school to have spending money, and to save to pay her student loans.

Lauren belonged to a sorority and four honor societies during her college years. She also volunteered through a co-ed service fraternity and was part of Habitat for Humanity, helping to build homes for families in need.

Lauren's major is Elementary Education, with a minor in Reading and Social Science. She hopes to become an elementary school teacher; her passion is in teaching children and guiding them to become life-long learners. Her goal is to earn her Master’s Degree to become a Reading Specialist.
