Got my latest issue of Entrepeneur magazine & voted for my three picks; an established entrepreneur, an emerging entrepreneur & lastly a college entrepreneur. Much to my disappointment, in all these categories, only one woman was represented. But what a woman & a wonderful company!
Limor Fried founded Adafruit (adafruit.com) industries in 2005 and is an established entrepreneur with 4.5 million in sales in 2011.Let me give you a company quote so you can read why I voted for her;
“It doesn’t matter if you’re a kid wanting to learn to make the next popular gadget, or an educator who just wants to have a great resource for your students to learn engineering. Adafruit has hundreds of free tutorials and videos that teach the basics of electronics, all the way up to advanced engineers-free of charge and available worldwide.”
As I have reported in previous article STEMS (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) are sorely in need of woman in the field. These tutorials introduce opportunities to girls to investigate the STEMS field at a very young age.
I don’t know where this company is in regards to votes but, the contest ends Sept. 17th.
So you still have time!

**Disclaimer**
I also don’t know Limor Fried or the Adafruit Company but, I know that this would help the advancement of women to have this knowledge builder out there!
College Highlight:
Michigan State University (my SIL received her electrical engineering degree from here!)
